It Starts With Movement. Because, Movement Matters.
On the road to recovery and greatness, the first thing we have to do and never to lose is movement. Have you heard the phrase, "Use it or lose it"? People living sedentary lives lose touch with the use of specific muscles limiting their ability to move. The muscles' main actions are to move the skeletal system at a joint, so I use the motto, Move It or Lose It. When you've lost the ability to move healthily, a domino effect occurs because your body might have lost the mind-muscle connection to certain areas to create a specific movement, but the mind has not. In turn, compensations within the body take place to perform that movement resulting in stiff movement and possible aches and pains, worst-case scenario, an injury. When that happens, when you try to move that way again, your brain (through the nervous system) senses it as dangerous and limits your movement even more. This is why I believe that any work being done to the client where all they do is just lay there and let you do all the work will only provide temporary relief to the client. You might have released tight areas, but if the nervous system still feels that movement is a threat, your body will tighten back up.
